Walking with Jesus — When the Son Is Obscured

The false teachings of the Word of Faith movement—the “name it and claim it” gospel that dominates so much of Christian media—have fallen across the Church like a solar eclipse. They have not extinguished the Son, nor diminished His glory. Jesus Christ remains exactly who He has always been: the crucified and risen Lord, the only Savior, and the Light of the world.

But something much smaller has been placed in front of Him: man.

Our desires, prosperity, comfort, supposed authority, and pursuit of signs and wonders have been elevated until they obscure the One the Gospel is truly about. The message has shifted from surrender to self-fulfillment, from repentance to riches, from carrying the cross to claiming the crown. It uses the name of Jesus, but too often places man at the center.

That is the great danger of the modern counterfeit gospel. It does not always deny Christ outright; sometimes it simply blocks Him from view.

Do not be deceived. A preacher’s popularity does not prove that he speaks for God. A television audience does not establish truth. Miracles, emotional experiences, confident declarations, and repeated Bible verses do not make a message biblical. Even Satan quoted Scripture when he tempted Jesus.

Test every teaching by the whole counsel of God’s Word. If a message magnifies man, promises a life Jesus never promised, makes faith into a formula, or treats God as a means of obtaining wealth, health, power, or personal success, it is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The darkness has not overcome the Light. The Son is still there in all His glory. Look beyond the personalities, promises, and performances. Return to the unchanging Word of God and hold fast to the true Gospel: Christ crucified, Christ risen, and Christ alone.
